Suburban Cargo-Fit Measurement Record

Cargo volume alone does not tell you whether an item can pass through the liftgate, clear the opening, or turn into place. This worksheet records a complete fit check in one place: the actual vehicle and its seat positions, the item as it will travel, the restrictions along the loading path, and the inputs and result from a geometric planning tool — with every dimension marked as measured, published, or unknown.

What it covers

1. The actual vehicle — model year, trim, seating layout, and the position of each rear row. “Seats folded” alone is not enough to reproduce a measurement.
2. The item as transported — packaged dimensions, handles and projections, and the orientations the item can safely tolerate.
3. Tool inputs and result — the exact seat-setting selected, the physical seat state it represents, and any differences from the real vehicle.
4. Restrictions along the route — opening width and height, sill and hatch shape, usable floor length, wheel wells, and the space needed to turn or tilt after entry.
5. The remaining decision — what appears to clear, what is still unmeasured or tight, and the next verification step.

Scope and the ItemFits tool

The worksheet was developed in editorial collaboration with ItemFits, whose Suburban calculator treats the cargo opening and the interior space as separate geometric checks. Its current model covers the U.S.-market 2021+ Suburban generation in two cargo configurations — all seats upright (38.2 in floor length, 41.5 cu ft) and third row folded with the second row upright (~66 in, 93.8 cu ft). It does not model both rear rows folded together, and ItemFits uses researched dimensions for this generation; some dimensions are approximate and should be verified against the actual vehicle.
